UPSC Declares Results: 14,624 Candidates Qualify in Civil Services Preliminary Exam

The UPSC has announced the outcome of the civil services preliminary examination, with 14,624 candidates successfully passing the exam.


The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday declared the result of the civil services preliminary examination, 2023. A total of 14,624 candidates have qualified for the mains examination, which will be held in October this year.

The preliminary exam was conducted on October 10, 2022. A total of 10.63 lakh candidates had registered for the exam, out of which 8.28 lakh appeared. The exam was conducted in two shifts, morning and afternoon.

The cut-off marks for the general category candidates was 99.55, while it was 98.25 for the OBC category and 96.75 for the SC/ST category.

The mains examination will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be held from October 16 to 23, while the second phase will be held from November 1 to 9. The results of the mains examination will be declared in April 2024.

  • The exam is a two-hour, objective-type exam with 200 multiple-choice questions.
